In honor of Ryland...
In honor of Ryland's short life, Ryland's family has started a non-profit organization called Ryland's Hope, found at http://www.rylandshope.com. This organization raises money in order to assist families in central & northern Ohio and southern Michigan facing the unexpected loss of a child. This assistance can be used for grief counseling, memorials (including miscarriage burial vessels), funerals, and cremation. Ryland's Hope also distributes care packages to families grieving the loss of a child.
The Shardell family is also in the process of starting a chapter of the Elizabeth Ministry in Licking County, Ohio. This ministry is an international program in the Catholic Church that supports women and families during pregnancy, birth, and life with a newborn. In addition, the Elizabeth Ministry offers support to families who have lost a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death.
